Hollywood is washed. Washed up. Washed out. Wash cycle on money. Since the golden age of film, Hollywood has been controlled by popularity and what actors can make studios the most money. So what is the reason for all the hubbub about actors outside of the race of white not being honored at an event that has shown a bias in the past not exactly pertained to race. It’s all about money ladies and gentlemen. Bankable actors make studios more money and if a studio so happens to have a successful film that has garnered the interest of audiences and critic they will not hesitate to put forth money to endorse that person or film during the promotional phase of the Oscars. They petition by placing ads in Hollywood periodicals and financing every means to help propagandize their product. Also, factor in the fact that most members of the Oscar judgment panel are Hollywood established and therefore are mostly Caucasian — this does create bias.
