Deadpool and Other R-Rated Comic Book Movies – TWB32

With the box office success of comes much fluctuated praise and misleading fervor totting this film as the movie that’s gonna breakdown the conventional norm of comic book movies and change the way Hollywood perceives R rated comic book adaptations. Why now? Because Deadpool has made graphic comic books seemingly profitable now. However, comic book movies have been in existence for a long time. Indeed! R – rated comic book movies have played on the big screen. Marvel has produced and released R -rated movies of it’s characters in the past, so whats the big whoop-dee-coo with Deadpool? Is it the dreamy Ryan Reynold? Cameos by the X-men? Valentine’s Day pandering? Okay, you can almost tack up it’s success to all of those things but being avant grade is not one of them. Here’s the rub, Deadpool, opened up at the right time: when we were as an audience where growing tired of the time. If Deadpool was released by Fox when, say, the first avengers movies debuted, it would have drowned. So before we fall victim to what’s to be the catchy copycat virus, realize that a trailer for Civil War and Superman V Batman played before many a Deadpool showing and come May audiences — us— will settle back into our usual routine of Marvel by Disney awaiting for a next big mutha-effing yell yeah moment when a viral sensation has us rushing to the box office to spill out our dollar bills of bile by popularity.
