I’ve often been accused of hating Batman.
I’m gonna set the record straight right here and now, I don’t hate Batman, I simply think he’s incredibly over-hyped. I actually REALLY like Batman as a character. He’s a legend, one of DC’s big three, A founding member of the Justice League, and arguably the most determined character in the DC Universe. Couple this with extensive training, a brilliantly tactical mind, and limitless technology, and you get a character worthy of his extensive 75 years of fandom.
What the character is NOT worthy of, however, is his stature of the totally unbeatable, demigod level superhero whom his devotees worship with a religious fervor just shy of L. Ron Hubbard.
Seriously, have you ever actually tried to convince a truly adamant Batman fan that their Dark Knight Bat God isn’t absolutely infallible? It pretty much can not be done. You can argue any logical point you want and even when you bring up examples of how many other heroes and villains should be able to take him down, when backed into a corner, the truly die hard fan will simply counter with “He’d have a plan for that.”
I’m sorry, but that’s eight year old playground logic at best. It’s only one step above countering with “nuh uh, nuh uh, because… uh..” before punching you in the nose.
