Fast and Furryous

I don’t understand furry fandom. At all. Not in the slightest.

I don’t see the strange appeal these people seem to have in dressing up in animal costumes at cons. After my weekend at Phoenix Comicon, I understood it even less. They walk around the cons in full body animal suits, acting like rejects from Disneyland. Is it a sexual thing? I’ve heard it’s related to beastiality, homosexuality, zoophilia, etc. and I’ve also heard that it has nothing to do with sex at all.

It’s one of the few fandoms that I simply cannot fathom. Is it an attention thing? Who knows. Maybe they just dig on the complete anonymity of the whole thing. Either way it’s growing, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. All I know is that here I sit, on the outside of this weird thing I don’t understand, and I hate the fact that all I can do is judge them. But as I see them walking around dancing and running up and hugging other con goers with furryous passion, all I can think of is what my reaction would be.
