The Syfy network embraced the ridiculousness of Sharknado and so did fans. Lovers of the creature feature loathe this film while the everyday “yeah, it’s on Netflix” will hail in it’s hilariousness and rejoice in the fact they did not have to pay a price for admission.
Despite horrible ratings and critical dismay, Syfy continues to employ Ian Ziering and Tara Reid’s hand stump double along with a cast of cameos to further the epic disaster spoof franchise. But will it continue to pay off? With Sharknado 3 on the horizon (release date July 22), we wonder if Syfy ever be known for something other than the laughs it garners by poking fun at itself. There’s Sharktopus 2 I guess sometime this year to look forward to on Netflix. Also shows, like, Helix, Ascension, and 12 Monkeys, but they’re no Battlestar Galactica –we’ll save our opinions until we actual watched an episode. Until then, I’m good with reruns. Battlestar remains the best show this network has to offer only now we don’t have to wait on week-to-week basis — just cure that jones with a good ‘ol binge and sprinkle in Eureka some comedic flavor.
Movies
JAC watched both Sharknado films.
Jerry and Adam watched the movies for the first time while Chris has endured it more times and he’s more than happy to admit in fact.
Fin Shepard is John McClane.
Oh yeah, and his name is Fin, like, in the fish and shark appendage.
Rupel owns Guide to Surviving a Sharknado.
Chris “The Rupel” has a monthly subscription to Loot Crate and received the book sometime before the recording of this episode. Coincidence… I think not.
Sharknadoes are only Sharkhurricanes.
Tornadoes can occur on hills and in mountain but on water? Nope. The winds form an ocean storm aka hurricane can however cause a tidal current in which a whirlpool forms sucking everything down but not upwards.
Jerry will one day persuade his son to conduct a school science experiment based on the scientific legitimacy of an actually Sharknado ever occurring in our lifetime.
Giant Naked Mole-Rats
Jerry and Chris conceive the perfect the SyFy movie called Giant Naked Mole-Rats!
Syfy Movies are romantic comedies… naturally.
Chris has a theory and it’s this: Behind every Syfy movie is a RomCom masked as an action adventure dipped in creature chocolate. Boom, there goes your mind.
